Painting a Mural at lululemon
If you keep up with my Instagram, you know I often write about how side hustles are hard and calling myself an artist is often filled with low self esteem that I’m not quite measuring up to the amazing people on the Internet. This time, however, I want to share a really amazing moment in my career that is helping to turn that all on its head.
The doors of lululemon Closter Plaza open today, which means that every person walking through the entrance is going to be greeted by a mural… painted by ME! The craziest part? The opportunity fell into my lap because of my Instagram and the work that I put out on there.
When they first contacted me, I was shocked and honored and definitely very nervous. But my nature is to take hard opportunities, say yes, and then scramble to figure out the logistics.. and that’s what I did. Luckily, their team was a dream to work with!
I submitted a proof of the mural prior to heading to the store to do the painting. lululemon had a clear vision of how they wanted it to appear, but I was able to put my own lettering style on it and make it mine.
Painting day took me about 5 hours from start to finish, including setup and cleaning up. And though my back was aching in this picture, I hope you can tell how proud I am!
Congratulations to the Closter team on opening day! Wishing you all the best of luck! And if you get a chance to head into the store, make sure you take a snap of yourselves standing at my mural and tag me in it; I would be truly honored!
