In the Studio: What I Worked On This Weekend

For those of you the follow me on Instagram, you might have seen the latest doodle I worked on over the weekend.

How Great a Mom Card Doodle

Kind of funny, right?

While I loved the look of the Gold Gelly Roll pen, I knew to bring it onto the computer I'd have to bring out my Lightpad and trace it with the fine tip of a Tombow Dual Brush pen.

Once I had a good drawing in black ink, I scanned it to bring over to Photoshop where I could clean it up a bit to make vectorizing in Illustrator a bit quicker. (Though for me, the vectorizing process still takes a good chunk of time.) I colored the greenery in very quickly using the blob tool, as my goal was to purposely have color showing outside of the lines.

How Great a Mom Card by Wanderlove Press

Overall, it's a fun card to give to a great mom who has a nice sarcastic sense of humor. Or that you can totally state the obvious to.

Head over to the shop to grab a copy for yourself. I know it seems like you have tons of time before Mother's Day, but there's no need to procrastinate!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend — looking forward to a lovely week!

Love, Kelli
